What is a minimal viable product and why did I release in such a state? The minimal viable product or MVP as will refer to it for the rest of this article. Is a version of the game which you cut as much content as possible while allowing it to be still considered a game. I will let extra credit go into more detail about the subject. So the MVP of the game has been released in which the player can
- Run, jump and shoot
- The map is randomly generated
- And there is an obstacle (enemies) to get a pass
- with some bells and whistle of being able easily to restart when the goal is reached or the player dies.
So what next? Working on adding the core ideas of game
- Rpg/ gear elements
- Life system: each life is a toon that the player created and built up over time. The toons themselves will have their own stats and goals in mind that will lead to a form of progression.
- Resource management: a means to mitigate time sink so toons will take as to make the loss less painful
- loot, ability and skill mutation: an idea that I have been playing with things with change as they are placed in different elements leave or lose a pistol in a world that is firebase and it reappears with a fire augmentation of some sort
- Base building: because I'm a sucker for it
All of this is what I'm planning for the vertical slice which will bring a real version of the game into view. Once that is achieved the game will go behind a paywall of some form. What kind I'm not sure about yet.
